Nitrogen deficiency in mature citrus trees

My mature citrus trees need nitrogen. I purchased your 16-4-9 Trees and Shrubs controlled release Foliage Fertilizer. The instructions state broadcast application is 2/3 tablespoons per square foot. At that rate I would have to apply 226 (two hundred twenty-six) tablespoons to my large grapefruit tree. This seems excessive. Please advise at cdudley131@verizon.net
