One important thing to keep in mind with peace lily is LOCATION. They like quite a bit of light, but NO direct sunlight on their leaves, as they will "sunburn" Also, make certain to place the plant where A/C or heater vents will NOT blow directly on the leaves, or the leaves will crinkle up and shed. They like good air circulation to the surface of the soil, so the plant should sit no more than an inch or so below the rim of the pot.
Apart from that, they are low-care. Let the soil dry down about 1/3 between waterings...about the time the lower leaf stems start to droop a little. Part the leaves and try to water the entire soil surface evenly. Discard any water sitting in the saucer after 20 minutes or so. Peace lily is sensitive to chlorine, so water with distilled or filtered water.
Once or twice a month, dust the plant leaves. An easy way to do this is to dampen a clean pair of cotton socks with plain water. Put them on your hands like mittens. With one hand on top of the leaf and one on bottom, allow the leaf to gently slip between your hands. Do NOT use oil or "leaf polish", as these will clog the pores (stoma) on the underside of the leaf that the plant uses to breathe.
Enjoy!
