I currently live in zone 7 or 8 (Memphis TN) my front bed is shaded by a large oak tree until 3 or 4 in the afternoon, can anyone suggest plants that will do well in this sort of environment? Some of the shade plants I've planted are frying in the afternoon sun, the sun loving plants that were already in place just don't get enough sun to thrive.... any suggestions would be appreciated!

Cast Iron Plant is a must have for low light areas. Cast iron plants are one of the lowest light plants that I know. I have never seen it flower. I would also try ferns, there are many types and varieties.
